Well...I didn't expect this to happen. Neither did a lot of people, it seems.
Due to recent events, and a challenge set by @neverniko101 here...
I wanted to show my support.
A lot of people, not just Americans, are dealing with the results, and we can only hope to stay afloat. To those who need to hear it, even if I am a small voice, you are here, and you are loved and no matter what, you will see light at the end of the tunnel. And from where I am, my heart goes out to all of you.

Dysphoric culture is wanting a phalloplasty without a vaginectomy and not being able to find any doctors who've ever done it, and then crying because you know your ideal configuration apparently isn't a thing that happens.
I want to keep my vulva/vagina, but I still want a penis, and I can't tell you the amount of times I've cried because I don't think this type of surgery is even done or, if it is, done in the US at least. It sucks so much.
Dysphoric culture is!
Also anon, great news: this surgery is real! It’s called vagina-preserving phalloplasty or VPP.
There aren’t a ton of surgeons who perform it in the US but some (from the Crane Center in California) are listed here. There’s also someone in New York that talked about getting a vagina-preserving metoidioplasty in a news article but mod doesn’t know who their surgeon was. More info and some more surgeons are here.
More people are getting nonbinary bottom surgeries so there are slightly more resources around now. Good luck anon!
(For those wanting the opposite of this, phallus-preserving vaginoplasty exists too.)
#genuinely mod’s favorite type of ask is getting to give people really good news#because mod knows about some obscure stuff and so this is good place to ask if you’re looking for weird trans advice#so like. you’ve vented to the right place anon :)#dysphoric culture is#gender dysphoria#dysphoria#dysphoria tw#gender affirming surgery#bottom surgery#bottom dysphoria#medical transition#salmacian#afab nonbinary#trans#queer#lgbta#genitalia tw#tw genitals#phalloplasty#vagina preserving phalloplasty

Everyone, Please Read
I know this will be crossing people's minds. To anyone contemplating suicide in light of Donald Trump's re-election, especially young people out there: don't do it!
We survived four years of him as president before and despite the predictions that he'll be even worse this time, we can do it again. Don't give him and his followers the satisfaction of giving in to despair. If you can and feel like you should move to another country, that's one thing, but even if you can't, do not hurt yourself. On your worst day, you are worth a bazillion of him. Just being here on this planet is an act of defiance. Fight back in that small way at least, even if it's the only way you can (and if there's anything else you can do to resist his and his followers' policies and future policy changes on local and national levels within the law or through civil disobedience, do that, too; you may want to become politically involved if that's an option - again, even if it's not, don't hurt yourself).

In this time of JK Rowlings, Jordan Petersons, Dave Chappelles and Graham Linehans, it's important to remember that there are many Daniel Radcliffes, Miriam Margoyles, John Olivers, James Acasters, Nish Kumars and David Tennants out there too.

As a queer youth who's traveling to Florida in July, how can I help? My parents planned this vacation waaaay in advance, I don't think the laws were anywhere near as bad as they are now, and I don't want to ask them to try and cancel. Obviously I'm going to try and stear us away from Florida for the future but is there anyway I can help right now?

Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?
I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?
In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".
Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.
This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.
Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.
The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.
[Image ID: A black and white photo of a group of people. Some are smiling at the camera, others have serious expressions. Either way, they all seem to be happy. On the right side, an older gentleman in glasses- Magnus Hirschfeld- is sitting. He has short hair and a bushy mustache. He is resting one hand on the shoulder of the person in front of him. His other hand is being held by a person to his left. Another person to his right is holding his shoulder.]
There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.
This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.
[Image ID: A black and white photo of the May Nazi book burning of the Institute of Sexology's library. A soldier, back facing the camera, is throwing a stack of books into the fire. In the background of the right side, a crowd is watching.]
As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.
But of course, you knew that already, didn't you?
Edit: Added image IDs. I apologize to those using screen readers for forgetting them. Please reblog this version instead.

I love this
I got several requests for more of these!
Flags: Baker's original rainbow, queer, asexual, aromantic, bear brotherhood, questioning, transmasculine, agender, genderfluid, and omnisexual.
(Image description: ten square pride flags with white text that reads "you'll never have the comfort of our silence again".)
These are inspired by this post, an image of a sign taken at an anti-Anita Bryant protest in 1978.

With the news that Biden is dropping out now its more important than ever to stop Trump and Project 2025. I'm 100% serious on how we cant let Trump back in the WH. If we do here are examples of Project 2025:
These could actually happen. Social Security GONE! Public Assistance GONE! any mention of LGBTA+ on the internet: Ao3, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram anywhere GONE!! Protections against discrimination GONE! Women's Right GONE!
Also Palestine yeah it will 10X worse. Trump had repeatedly says he wants Bibi to "Finish the Job" and will pretty much give Bibi anything he wants.
Please I begged you guys look more into Project 2025 its horrible and we must vote to defeat Trump.

this is 100% the fandom equivalent of virtue signaling
unpopular(?) opinion: it annoys the hell out of me when people tag fic about siblings or other family members with stuff like "this isn't incest fuck you if you ship it romantically" or whatever
like buddy. I KNOW it isn't incest. I didn't think it was incest, I wasn't thinking about incest at all in fact, and I would really have liked to have CONTINUED not thinking about incest except every damn author in the tag feels the need to remind me about it constantly. people who do this shove incest ships into my face way more than actual incest shippers do because they won't fucking stop talking about how much they don't ship incest.
please just tag your fic with the things it DOES contain and don't worry about the things it DOESN'T, okay. I promise you no one's gonna think your fic is full of secret incest even if you don't spend 30 minutes decrying it in the tags before every fic.
#it is the definition of virtue signaling#they're saying THEY don't participate in this thing ever and anyone who does us a dirty freak#they cannot bare the thought that anyone would EVER associate them with Those Fans#it is of course ridiculous#but thry don't get that to people NOT in niche fandon spaces they're already in the same bucket as everyone else on ao3#because a still very prevalent lot of 'normal people' fully and whole heartedly consider all fandom writing theft and bad nonsense#its much like the subset of LGBTA+ people who furiously slice off bits of themselves to try and become acceptable to straight cis people#when the conservative right is NEVER going to see them as anything but hell bound degenerates#social commentary#fandom
